Windows Server secure administration
March 10 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm
I conducted a workshop on Windows Server secure administration for Aleks Pastry LLC, focusing on best practices and techniques to ensure the security of Windows Server environments.
During the workshop, we covered various topics, including:
User Account Management: How to create and manage user accounts securely, including implementing strong password policies and utilizing multi-factor authentication (MFA).
Server Hardening: Techniques to secure Windows Server by reducing its attack surface, such as disabling unnecessary services, applying security patches, and configuring firewall settings.
Active Directory Security: Best practices for securing Active Directory, including implementing least privilege access, regular auditing, and monitoring for suspicious activity.
Group Policy Management: How to use Group Policy to enforce security settings across the organization, such as disabling USB ports or restricting access to certain applications.
Backup and Recovery: The importance of regular backups and how to configure Windows Server Backup to protect critical data.
Security Monitoring: How to use built-in Windows Server tools, such as Event Viewer and Performance Monitor, to monitor for security breaches and performance issues.
The workshop included practical demonstrations and hands-on exercises to help attendees apply the concepts learned. By the end of the workshop, participants gained a better understanding of how to secure their Windows Server environments and protect them from potential threats.
