Azure VM Types

Azure VM Types

Azure E size is installed with high memory/core compatibility for VMs and should be preferred for relational database servers. Azure M-size VMs should be preferred for servers that require parallel processing power.

Azure VM Types (Instance E)

The VM variants in Azure E  size are optimized for heavy in -memory applications and welcome us with a high memory / core ratio .

Azure E-Type

It is also necessary to remind the support of Premium SSDs of the “ES” series on Azure vM E size.  Azure E size will be the right choice for VMs that need high memory performance. SAP HANA, SAP S/4 HANA, SQL Hekaton can be given as examples to the sample applications addressed by the relevant vM.

Azure VM Types (Instance M)

We can say that Azure M-size VMs are the largest memory-optimized virtual machines, unlike E sizes. We mentioned earlier that M-size vMs should be preferred for applications that require massively parallel processing. In this case, as always, the most important question we have to ask is what size do we need on Azure?

It is actually very easy for us to choose between these two sizes While we should prefer the E size for business critical applications, we should prefer M size vMs for our applications that mostly require parallel processing power. However, since the price difference is quite large, the analysis must be done very accurately. Otherwise, dollars will fly out of our pockets.

With this article, we had the opportunity to talk about many VM sizes on Azure. We will talk briefly about all sizes as possible, but you can contact us at any time regardless of your vM selections. Talking/working on cloud technologies has always excited us.

Azure VM Types (Instance F)

For F-size vMs on Azure, we can briefly call it compute-optimized VMs. The biggest feature of these sizes is that they are optimized for processing intensive operations. The Fsv2 series in Azure F size welcomes us with Intel’s Xeon Platinum (Skylake) processor. It should be added that these processors can reach clock speeds up to 3.7 Ghz with Turbo Boost Technology.

Azure Type F

We should prefer Azure F size VMs for our batch operations, web servers and analytics.

Azure VM Types (Instance N)

VMs with Azure N size are Azure vMs with GPU capabilities. Azure N dimension welcomes us with 3 different series. These series are seen as NC, ND and NV. Working on the same dimension, these 3 series are actually designed to serve different purposes.

Azure Type N

I want to take a quick look at which hardware these series, which will meet us on the Azure N dimension, get their power and on which areas they should be run.

NC Series : It is recommended to be preferred in high performance computing and machine learning. VMs on this series have Nvidia Tesla v100 GPU.

ND Series : It should be preferred in training and inference scenarios for deep learning. The vMs on this series have Nvidia Tesla P40 GPU and Nvidia Tesla v1oo GPU.

NV Series : This series should be preferred for powerful remote virtualization. VMs on this series have Nvidia Tesla M60 GPU.

Generally speaking, Azure N size VMs should be used for operations that require powerful GPUs such as deep learning, graphics processing, simulation, and video processing.

I hope it will be useful..
